Glycemic Index Food List The glycemic index ranks carbohydrate foods on the basis of how they affect blood sugar (glucose). Eating foods high on the G.I. will cause sharp rises in your blood sugar level thereby causing your pancreas to produce significant amounts ofthe hormone insulin. Eating foods low on the G.I. will produce a slower rise in blood glucose levels providing a more steady source of energy. Do your best to stay in the green!
